Frequently Asked Questions
What is group therapy?
Group therapy is a type of psychotherapy that involves a small group of people meeting with a trained therapist to discuss and work through shared challenges and concerns. Group therapy can be helpful for a variety of mental health issues, including anxiety, depression, and substance abuse.
How does group therapy differ from individual therapy?
While both individual and group therapy can be effective for addressing mental health concerns, there are some key differences. In individual therapy, the focus is on the individual and their specific challenges and goals. In group therapy, the focus is on the group as a whole, and individuals are encouraged to share their experiences and provide support and feedback to one another. Group therapy can provide a sense of community and a unique perspective that may not be available in individual therapy.
How many people are typically in a group therapy session?
Group therapy sessions typically involve 4-10 people, depending on the specific type of therapy and the needs of the group.
Is group therapy right for me?
Group therapy can be an effective form of treatment for a variety of mental health concerns, but it may not be right for everyone. If you are considering group therapy, it’s important to discuss your goals and concerns with a trained therapist to determine if it is a good fit for you.
How long do group therapy sessions last?
Group therapy sessions typically last 60-90 minutes, depending on the specific needs of the group and the goals of the therapy.
